Hello again!

I had no idea when sending the huge Summer Update that just days later you be getting the next one! 

Well, I just found out late yesterday when the Blu-ray and DVDs will go on sale! You all (my backers) have been so patient, I wanted to share the news with you before anywhere else! Here's the scoop...

On Sale Beginning July 15th!

So there you have it! That's less than 3 weeks from now!

And that's pretty much what I know at this point. I'm not even sure which places you'll be able to buy it just yet, although I did hear you'll be able to order on Amazon.

So when will I have copies in hand?

Per my licensing agreement with Buffalo 8, I have the opportunity to order copies of the film on Blu-ray and DVD in bulk for a wholesale rate. That's always been the good news.

The not-as-great news is, as I just found out (but halfway expected) is that my order won't get placed with the 3rd party vendor until the product goes on sale, which is 7/15 just like everyone else.

So, when will Swag Box 4 be shipping?

I'm sending in my order to Buffalo 8 today, but they won't get to fulfill it until that Tuesday, July 15th. I'm guessing I'd have Blu-rays in hand a week later, end of the month at the latest.

As soon as I have them, I begin assembling SWAG BOX 4 with all the juicy goodness inside, and start shipping ASAP!

Of course I first ship to my Executive Producer backers, followed by Aladdin's Inner Circle backers, followed by Skysail Sky Club backers, and finally followed by Swag Box 4: Lochan's Loot backers.

My guestimate is that you'll be getting the 4th and final Swag Box in August at some point, if not sooner.

ALADDIN 3477 Summer Update!

Hello!

I hope you're all having fun in the sun with loved ones this summer! I sure am, but also keeping busy on illustrative projects and of course ALADDIN 3477!

So let's get to some updates!

How is the film doing???

At some point soon, I will start to get quarterly data (and payments) for the film from the distributor, Buffalo 8. But from what I understand, for a truly independent film like ours with no studio backing, it's doing really well!

There are only a few tidbits I've heard, like it's doing really well on Amazon here in the US, but not as well on Amazon in the U.K. Also, there is a worldwide AVOD platform called Movie Central that it was released on a month ago, and in that time it's already been viewed over 35,000 times!

So it will be cool to see which platforms it performs better on, etc. I'll obviously share what I can if you are interested in such data.

The Stunts of Aladdin Himself, Erik Steele!

When is Swag Box 4 shipping?

This is so embarrassing. I know this is the case with most Kickstarters- even when the creators are on top of things, often the product release is out of their control, for a multitude of reasons.

Hopefully you are all satisfied with the first 3 Swag Boxes, and know that I'm a professional that will deliver on my promise. Not only will backers of course get Swag Box 4, but it will be the best one yet and worth the wait!

So, as you know, if you've been following along, all of the reward items for Box 4 are in hand, EXCEPT for the Blu ray / DVD. As I've stated from the beginning, this final Swag Box's release would be in the hands of the distributor because of the discs, as they are ones producing and releasing the product.

What's been frustrating is- I've never been given a solid date. Last November, it sounded like it would be February. In January, it sounded like it would be March. In February I saw and approved the final packaging art for the Blu ray, but it actually wasn't until a few weeks ago that I saw the final art for the DVD (and it's my understanding that they will be released at the same time).

So what's the hold up? 

For one, the distributor has a fluid marketing plan. They follow trends and strike in certain areas when something is hot, but also feel they can get more mileage with certain releases when some things spaced out and become new again.

Further, they work with a third party company that actually produces the physical media. So there are multiple working pieces, all out of my control. But as soon as I have some info, you'll be the first to know, and I will drop everything to ship the rest of the Swag Boxes as soon as the discs are in my hands!

What will the Blu Ray and DVD Packaging look like?

Well, I'm not at liberty show you that yet.

But I can show you what it WON'T look like! Haha! What does that even mean? 

As you know, I was welcomed to illustrate the poster for the film. Although Buffalo 8 did have some changes, the reasons were sound, so I was happy to do them.

I was also give permission to take a stab at the Blu ray and DVD packaging, to which I did this:

Note: This is just the DVD packaging, but the Blu ray was very similar.

However, while the front cover is pretty much the same, they did a complete re-design for the back. 

Which one is better? I'm probably partial to the design I did, but the final version they did looks great as well, so I can't complain.

Why the changes? I think it's a case of: if designers don't do anything with what they are given, then they didn't do their job. But again, I can't complain, because it looks good.

You'll have to let me know which design you like better when you see the final product.

Lots of wheels still turning in the world of ALADDIN 3477. Here's the latest and the greatest...

The first ALADDIN 3477 film is available to stream Worldwide!

This is wild! I'm told that the film is available everywhere in one form or another! Now, keep in mind, some of these platforms that are global may only have the film regionally. For example, ALADDIN 3477: The Jinn of Wisdom is currently available on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. and the U.K., but that doesn't mean it's available on Amazon in Japan or other parts of Europe. (Yet.)

However, across the many platforms it's currently on (and growing) it is in fact available to stream worldwide on one platform or another. I don't have complete lists for each country / territory which platforms you can find it, but I do have a current list of TVOD and (now) AVOD platforms below!

Finally! The Subtitles are now working on Amazon Prime!

It only took 2 months, but finally the film can be experienced with the Forced Narrative Subtitles as it was meant to be seen. I know a few of you have been patiently waiting- thank you! You can now check it out on Prime!

It's also interesting- I stumbled upon an ad for Prime Video where they used a screenshot from ALADDIN 3477: The Jinn of Wisdom!

The most popular AVOD platform is Tubi, and again, it's great because you can watch it for free.

Does it help to watch it over and over again?

In the case of AVOD platforms like Tubi, ABSOLUTELY!

The reason why it helps isn't because of the pay. BUT- every time it's viewed on Tubi, it helps our algorithm. The more it's viewed, the more it gets bumped to the top of seacrh engines and genre browsing.

So if you are really wanting to help, PLEASE play it in the background over and over while you are at work! It really does help the underdog indie filmmakers!

A great video review from Captain Macanudo on YouTube! Paying homage to the greats that have come before is tricky. Nothings new under the sun, and we rest on the shoulders of giants. Still, there's a fine line between paying respect, fan service, and blatant ripping off. I'm so happy that people see our salutes in a positive way. Check it out!

What's next with the film?

I'll be continuing to promote it, as there are still more phases of release. At some point soon, the DVD and Blu ray will be released. There may even be a limited theatrical release / Midwest Tour down the road.

There is so much more planned for the upcoming year, and fun ways I'll be promoting it all!

When is Swag Box 4 shipping?

There is only 1 item I am waiting for, and that is the Blu-rays! I still don't yet know when they will be released, or when I'll even have them physically to send you. My guess is within a month or so. I know I said that last update, but I also didn't know that Buffalo 8 was first releasing on AVOD platforms. At some point, the game plan switched.

Rest assured, I will absolutely ship them out with Swag Box 4 as soon as they are in-hand. Thank you for your patience!!! 

The 32 Peanut Butter Whiskey Taste Off!

I know this sounds incredibly off-the-wall, but it was so fun! To help kick-off the AVOD release phase of the film, I had a few of the ALADDIN 3477 Cast join me in tasting 32 different Peanut Butter Whiskeys! 

Yes, we drank responsibly, but as you can guess, hilarity ensued and we had a blast. And you can watch the whole event right here:

Judges included Actor/Filmmaker Erik Steele( Aladdin), Award-Winning Actor James Polony, Artist/Actor/Model/Dungeon Master Cam Turner, Writer/Distiller/Actor R Wolf Baldassarro, and Multi-Award-Winning Filmmaker/Actor Chiqui Marrero joined us behind the camera.

The future of the LIVESTREAM LOUNGE

The Livestreams have been sporadic. During heavy promotion, I've done them weekly, but sometimes a month will pass in between. They are so fun to do, but the work beforehand to prep takes a lot of time.

Behind the scenes, the service I use is called Streamyard. It's very easy to use, and up until recently, I've been very happy with it. The subscription used to be about $20 a month- more than anyone wants to pay.

Well, a few months back, Streamyard was bought out by a larger company. The first thing they did (of course) was raise their rates. And by raise their rates, the plan I was in now costs $80 a month.

Am I leaving Streamyard? Not yet, but I'm definitely leaping out of that plan and going barebones into the cheapest set up they have. It's a bummer, but I refuse to pay $80 a month for mostly services I don't use (things like webinars for 500 people, etc.). Hopefully they will reconfigure their services soon.

That said, I'm doing one more full shebang with all the bells and whistles this Sunday, March 23rd! And my Special Guest will be the Jinn of Wisdom himself, Aaron Golematis!

We've been holding back on chatting the Jinn too much, as the mysterious character is meant to be discovered in the film. But I feel the film has been out long enough that we can chat spoilers!

So tune in to the show the Sunday at 9pm EST with Aaron and I. James will be there too and we'll be diving deep into all things ALADDIN 3477!

What about Amazon Prime?!

It's true, the film is also available on Amazon, BUT- they had a techincal glitch where they forgot to turn the Forced Narrative Subtitles ON. Even if you watch with all of the Closed Captions on, the FN Subs are missing. Super unfortunate, as some of the foreign language and even robotic language is important to the story.

So all they have to do is turn them on, right? I wish it was that easy. The metadata for all of the languages to work in regions all around the world is complicated. To fix it, the film has to be reloaded through Amazon's QC. And that can take anywhere up to 12 weeks. (It's been 6 weeks since we discovered this and immediately began the process to fix.) So hopefully that will be resolved soon!

Reviews!

The reviews have been amazing! Most reviews range from positive to glowing, which just I'm just so grateful people appreciate the work and creativity our team has put so much into. Sure, we've also had a couple meh reviews, and one absolute stinker, but that's to be expected.

What's next with the film?

I'll be continuing to promote it, as there are still more phases of release. At some point soon, the DVD and Blu ray will be released. As well, AVOD streaming services (platforms like Tubi, Pluto, and Plex) will have their own special release. There may even be a limited theatrical release / Midwest Tour down the road, but we'll see what happens.

There is so much more planned for this upcoming year, and fun ways I'll be promoting it all!

The Art Books are here!

Yesterday, 2 giant pallets with 125 heavy boxes of The Art of ALADDIN 3477: The Jinn of Wisdom hardcover coffee table art books arrived!

The first pallet I unloaded myself, carrying one heavy box at a time into the house and down into the basement. Thank goodness, Cast and Crew Extraordinaire James Polony came out to help me carry the rest of the boxes downstairs. We celebrated afterword going out for some incredible sushi!

When do we get the Art Books?!

The Art Books will first go out to Kickstarter Backers in SWAG BOX 4. Backers in higher tiers will be shipped first. Once those are out, the rest of the orders in the Presale store will go through, and finally they will be open for general ordering with immediate shipping.

When is Swag Box 4 shipping?

Nearly all of the super-cool items in SWAG BOX 4 are here! There is only 1 item I am waiting for, and that is the Blu-rays. I still don't yet know when in the release scheme of things that will be. My guess is within a month or so, but I don't have any concrete info.

Speaking of the Blu ray, last update I mentioned that there wouldn't be as many Bonus Features as planned, due to Buffalo 8's plan. However, I think the film is doing well, because they had a sudden change of heart! More of the Bonus Features are going back in, and they wanted me to immediately record a Commentary Track! So I got together with Erik Steel and we recorded one the next day at TH3 Studio in Downtown Utica! I can't wait to see it all together!

In the meantime, I will absolutely ship them out with Swag Box 4 as soon as they are in-hand. Thank you for your patience!!!

If you enjoyed the film, please leave reviews anywhere and everywhere possible. There are likely places you can review on the streaming service you watch it on.  Usually a prompt will come up after watching, but also if you go back to Amazon, Apple, Fandango, etc, there will be a prompt where you can give it a Thumbs Up, 5 stars, or even write a review!

Leaving a positive review helps independent artists and filmmakers more than you know. It's difficult when a 13-year-old kid quickly trashes the film with 1 star and says "Don't watch." It knocks our score quite a bit, and so we need everyone who was invested and did enjoy the film to balance the film back.

Season's Greetings!

I hope you are all had a wonderful Holiday and are kicking off the New Year in health, style, and excess of fun creative projects!

Christmas was great for the family and I. It was fun since it was my son's first- the stack of cute Holiday onesies is endless! The special days were a great break from the 20 to 22 hour days I've been doing, and continue to do, promoting the film as best I can.

Aladdin 3477: The Jinn of Wisdom drops tomorrow, January 3 on Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, Fandango at Home, Google Play, iTunes, Verizon Fios / Vubiquity, and Hoopla, as well as Cable VOD on Spectrum, Charter, Cox, and Xfinity!

Which streaming service should you watch it on? Whichever you one you prefer to use! Amazon and Apple pay out the least, but those are probably the ones that would help us the most, in terms of increasing the algorithm.

The film will first be available in these 66 countries / territories: US, UK, Canada, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Indonesia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Botswana, Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Israel, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Swaziland, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Within a couple months, I'm told it will be available Worldwide.

What am I doing tomorrow?

From 8am until Midnight EST, I will be hosting a Marathon LIVESTREAM LOUNGE to celebrate Release Day! 

I will be joined by Aladdin himself, Mr. Erik Steele, and James Polony will be sticking it out with shenanigans behind the camera. We'll be sharing sneak peek clips of the film, brand new Behind-the-Scenes footage, plus some fun activities and other surprises I don't want to spoil.

Mostly, we'll be reminding you that the film is available to stream! We'll be having a lot of fun, so please tune in or listen in if at work. You can find it Live on most of my socials, primarily YouTube and Facebook.

What's next with the film?

I'll be continuing to promote it, as there are still more phases of release. At some point soon, the DVD and Blu ray will be released. As well, AVOD streaming services (platforms like Tubi, Pluto, and Plex) will have their own special release.

There is so much more planned for this upcoming year, and fun ways I'll be promoting it all.

You obviously already know, but there is a great new Behind-The-Scenes video that has a great over-view of all things A3477.

The video was produced by First Assistant Director Steve "Oz" Pankotai, and is so fun to see- lots of footage from the first months of production- over 10 years ago!

Lots of press has dropped for the film, including critics that have seen screeners or press showings of the film! So far, the reviews range from positive to extremely positive!

I know that not every review can or will be positive. Of course, the haters, but also, sometimes people just don't like a film. And that's fine. It's what I've signed up for. But the fact that already people love and appreciate the film just warms my heart. The team and I have put so much into this. The effort is already paying off!

The Art Book!

I've been sharing sneak peeks of the Art Book on socials. I cannot wait for you to see it!

The books are being delivered as we speak (by boat) from Europe. I'll be sharing more sneak peeks tomorrow during the Livestream! 

What about Swag Box 4?

All of the physical rewards (outside the Blu Ray) are in hand, and the Artbook is on the way. 

The big question is- when will I have Blu-Rays? I still don't yet know when in the release scheme of things for that will be. My guess is February, but I don't have any concrete info.

Also, while the Blu ray will have some great Bonus Features, I recently learned that it won't be as many as I had assumed. Apparently there is a limit to the data we can put on a disc. So, before, I was saying they would be "loaded", but it will likely be the amount you'd see on a standard Blu ray. These decisions are out of my hands, but if there is ever need for a steel book version, or something, Buffalo 8 is open to it when that demand arises.

In the meantime, I will absolutely ship them out with Swag Box 4 as soon as they are in-hand. Thank you for your patience!!!
